The KKIFF 2015 will be screening films from 14 different countries from 5-11 June at the JKKN Auditorium.

As well as that, there are presentations that anyone interested in movies can attend. This is the Sabah Film Forum. On Sunday, 7 June, there will be presentations from 9.00am to 5.00pm at the GC Woolley Hall (Sabah State Museum). There is an entry charge of RM20 for the presentations from 9.00am to 3.15pm, which includes lunch.

The theme for the Sabah Film Forum is Storytelling – identity & culture. The first speaker will be Leo Koziol, Wairoa Maori Film Festival director and programmer from New Zealand. He will be showing some short films by Maori and Pacific filmmakers around the ideas of relatedness and connectedness between people and leading discussion about them. Leo is also on the panel for the Sabah Pitching Training & Awards.

Larry Johnson, filmmaker, USA

Larry Johnson will give a presentation called Facing Culture, starting at 1.00pm. Larry is from the USA and is one of the mentors for the Sabah Film Academy. He has worked a lot with Native Americans, history and culture, and has been making films and videos professionally since 1983. He is experienced as a director, producer, editor and writer.

Tony Francis Gitom, filmmaker, Sabah

The third presentation of the day will be by Sabah’s own Tony Francis Gitom.

We are very excited to be having Tony at the KKIFF 2015, with his experience and his perspective on Sabah and the local film industry.

Starting at 3.30pm, Hassan Muthalib and Charlotte Lim will be giving feedback on the entries for the Rolling10 Filmmakers’ Competition. To start their talk, there will be a screening of winners from the Sabah Screen Fest 2014. Everyone is welcome to come and see these short films and to hear what Hassan and Charlotte have to say about them. Entry is free.
