

CONGRATULATIONS to the 12 documentary film projects that have been selected for the Sabah Pitching Training & Awards. They will be competing for prizes that total RM20,000. There is RM8,000 for the best feature-length pitch and RM4,000 for the best short documentary pitch. The Ministry of Resource Development and IT is sponsoring a third award of RM8,000 for the best Sabahan pitch.
Those selected come from Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, Philippines and Malaysia.
Feature-length Documentaries (60 minutes or longer)

- Ika Wulandari (Indonesia) – Marry the Land
- Au Yong Seok Wun (Malaysia) – The Fish Bomber
- Trung Nguyen (Vietnam) – 6700 Breaths
- KM Lo (Singapore) – Zoetrope in No Man’s Land
- Lida Chan (Cambodia) – The Last Lake
- Dwi Sujanti Nugraheni (Indonesia) – Thirty-Something is Something to Think About
- Yee Nan Thike (Myanmar) – The Return to Co Co Island
- Jet B Leyco (Philippines) – The Aeta
- Putri Purnama Sugua (Malaysia) – Dreams to Fly
Short documentaries (up to 15 minutes)
- Vutha Koam (Cambodia) – Rice
- Nova Goh (Malaysia) – Sape – The Past & the Future of Borneo’s Ethnic Guitar
The participants will make their pitches to the Sabah Pitching Training Panel on Saturday, 6 June, GC Woolley Hall at the Sabah State Museum. This is a free event and everyone is welcome to come and listen to the pitches.
The Sabah Pitching Panel consists of: Leo Koziol (NZ festival director, programmer and curator), Park Hye-Mi (Korean documentary film festival programmer), Rick Minnich (American documentary filmmaker, living in Germany) and Sharmin Parameswaran (Astro commissioning editor).
