The KKIFF is excited and delighted to launch Sabah’s first on-line film festival – today!
This is the 11th year of the KKIFF and for the first time, in response to the current world situation, we made the challenging decision to screen our movies on-line. And we’ve called it CINEBALU ON-LINE.
You can sign up for a KKIFF account today by going to the CINEBALU ON-LINE site. There’s lots of information about all 21 of the movies in CINEBALU, including introductions by some of the South-East Asian directors to their films. You can watch the trailers too.
Then starting on 09 September, you will be able to start watching our great selection of films – with just the one-time payment to open a KKIFF account. They will be gradually released from 09 to 11 September, with all the movies being available on 12 and 13 September.
Where do the films come from? Sabah, Hong Kong, Viet Nam, Indonesia – Singapore, Philippines, Laos, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina Portugal and Germany. They include comedies, family dramas, true-life stories, supernatural thrillers and documentaries, shorts and feature-length films.
And don’t miss our webinars! This is another first for the KKIFF. We usually have discussions about movies and movie-making as an integral part of our annual event. These are also going on-line this year with interesting topics and well-known panellists, led by experienced moderators. There will be 5 webinars from 10-13 September, covering topics to do with the environment, independent film-making in Malaysia, a Freedom Film Fest collaboration, horror movies and indigenous cinema. All the webinars will be free to view on youtube and facebook. Go to KKIFF.com to find out more and also keep an eye on KKIFF social media. Two of the webinars will be in collaboration with the Borneo Eco Film Festival and the Freedom Film Fest.
We are always happy to have wonderful sponsors for the KKIFF and this year these include: the Ministry of Youth & Sports; Embassies of Brazil, Argentina and Italy; the NZ High Commission; the Goethe-Institut Malaysia; and ASTRO.
But a film festival is nothing without you – the people who watch the films! So sign up for your KKIFF account right now at KKIFF.com.
