Three categories (Narrative, Documentary, Indigenous Language) and a Golden Kinabalu Award for each one, together with RM3000.
We are delighted to have two experienced judges working together for the second time this year to consider the entries.
They are Hassan Muthalib and Amanda Nell Eu.
Hassan Muthalib is a self-taught artist, designer, animator & film director who has been on many local & international film festival juries. He has directed animation & live action films such as the well-known Sang Kancil series, public service advertisements & Malaysia’s first animated feature film, Silat Legenda. He is well-known in the educational fraternity as a trainer & mentor for film & animation students as well as conducting workshops locally & internationally for industry professionals. He has curated film festivals & animation programmes locally & for Germany, Hungary & Singapore. He has a number of awards to his name, including the Merdeka Award for contribution to the nation. His writings on film have been published in books & academic journals locally & internationally. He has authored three books on film & animation & is currently an Adjunct Professor at Taylors University. |
Amanda Nell Eu has directed award-winning short films which have screened in international festivals. She is an alumna of Berlinale Talents Campus and Locarno Filmmakers Academy. She is making her first feature film Tiger Stripes, set in Malaysia. In her work, she likes to explore the female body and identity within the context of South East Asia. |
