Judging Criteria:

Originality, creativity and good story-telling – in all 3 categories

Kinabalu Awards:

2 awards will be made for each category:

GOLDEN KINABALU AWARDS
Plus RM1000 for each Golden Award winner

SILVER KINABALU AWARDS
Plus RM500 for each Silver Award winner

Special Awards:

  1. Jury Award – 1 award made by the SYNC10 judges
  2. Santola Award – best entry by a Sabahan
  3. JuiceSky People’s Award – chosen by on-line voting

Competition Guidelines:

  1. This competition is open to citizens of ASEAN countries (Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia)
  2. It is free to enter this competition.
  3. Storyline – the theme for the film/video is ‘SYNC 
  4. Genre – film/video can be any genre (animation, documentary, drama, experimental, horror, comedy, etc.)
  5. Length – maximum 10 minutes, including credits – the movie can be up to 10 minutes long
  6. Screening Format – digital video no longer than 10 minutes
  7. Language – any language but must have English subtitles if not in English
  8. Multiple entries are welcome
  9. Copyright for all music and videos used must be owned by the filmmaker – that is, you must have permission to use all music, sound and/or artwork in your short film.  By entering this competition, you agree that the KKIFF 2014 will not be held liable for any copyright infringements perpetrated by you or your short film.
  10. The film you enter must have been completed on or after 9 June 2013 and not have been made public on the web or on tv.
  11. To submit your entry, please follow these two steps:(a) Upload your entry (highest resolution possible) to YouTube
    *creating an account is free(b) Fill in the KKIFF 2014 SYNC10 Entry Form HERE – with the link to your YouTube upload

* Deadline for entries is 15 May 2014.

Who: All competition participants and anyone else who is interested
Why: To receive feedback from the judges on selected entries

SYNC10  – awarding of prizes:

When: Sunday, 8 June, 2014,  at 6.00pm
Where: JKKN

 Special notes:

  1. Anyone linked to the organization of the KKIFF 2014 cannot enter this competition.
  2. Only a selection of entries will be shown at the SYNC10 workshop – that is, not all submissions will be screened at the workshop.  The selection of entries will be at the judges’ discretion.  No discussion or correspondence will be entered into.
